The Preface

Back in September, StoryBrand hosted its annual summit in Nashville, TN. I went, having only met everyone storybrand-related on Zoom before this point.

When I got there, it felt like a reunion with long-lost friends. Everyone was welcoming and we had an incredible time. New friendships formed fast. Unfortunately, the summit ended almost as fast.

We all went home, filled with temporary joy in the shared experience but sad it was over. The community chat was filled with a new buzz. The common refrain was: 

“We need to get back together again!”

The Prep

One of the fast friends I made in Nashville was Megan Giles. Both our businesses run completely remote and we both have the freedom to travel and coordinate retreats. We could make this happen.

The plan hatched in October and we set our eyes on the Florida panhandle in February. What if guides could get together for a few days, build friendships, and add immense value to each other? Almost instantly, six other guides signed up and the Guides Got Goals Retreat was a go.

The Main Act

February approached, the preparations were made, and we all flew to Pensacola Beach. The (work) party was on.

There’s something very special about the Storybrand guide community. When everyone finally arrives in the same room, the air tingles with laughter and excitement. It’s tangibly different from any other work gathering.

Monday through Wednesday, we worked on our businesses. Each person brought a unique set of skills and experiences to the table. Copywriters. Designers. Brand strategists. 9 of the best marketers in the world. In 72 hours, we had created nearly $40,000 in marketing assets for each other.

We flew home and again, we're all saying: 

“We need to get back together again!”
